Captain Craig Bailey's Tug Photos
© by Captain Craig Bailey 1998-2003

This photo was taken while towing out of Corpus Christi and it has been published on Seaspans web site.  I call it "The Wire" and it is one of my best marine pictures.  I took it with an Olympus 3030 digital.

Smith Maritime has been a recent employer.  My son, Fred, and I began towing 13 pieces of dredge pipe, 800 feet long from St. Mary's to Moorhead City on the tug "Elsbeth"

The "Elsbeth" is not only 30 years old, but has been around the world.

We then went to Fort Pierce to man the tug "Rhea", brand new and 5,000 horsepower!
The first job was to tow a barge full of dredge equipment to Homa, Louisiana; and then, light boat to Corpus Christi, Texas to tow a jumbo barge on its first leg to Africa!
